Control Plane, Data Plane and Management Plane Explained

Control Plane - Responsible to exchange topology information with other routers and build Routing Information Base based on IGP or EGP. Forwarding Plane - Responsible to classify and forward packets based on Control Plane logic. Management Plane - Provides a single entry point to the system for user configuration, handles user queries, and performs operational tasks on all management, control, and data plane nodes.

ARP & Proxy ARP Explained

You can configure Proxy Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) to enable a switch to respond to ARP queries for network addresses by offering its own Ethernet media access control (MAC) address.
